The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

April 19

China Inn

Location: 1274 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC — clean prep cooler including handles as needed to remove food debris build-up, to be corrected by July 1.

Ponderosa Steakhouse

Location: 1585 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC/R — repair wall behind dish machine, walk-in freezer door which has ice build-up, to be corrected by July 1.

April 20

Country Inn and Suites

Location: 2070 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R — refrigerator too warm at 48 degrees, to be corrected by April 20; C — not sanitizing after cleaning, to be corrected by April 20; C — must have three-compartment sink or dish machine available to sanitize correctly per code, to be corrected by May 4; NC — trim piece needed on wall by paper towel dispenser, to be corrected by July 1.

Fortville Head Start

Location: 400 W. Church St., Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

No violations found.

Los Maguelles Mexican Restaurant

Location: 222 S. Main St., Fortville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC/R — repair floors in kitchen, repair lights in kitchen that are not working, clean floors in corners along edges, under equipment, etc., repair dish machine so wash cycle reaches 120 degrees, to be corrected by July 1; NC — repair faucets and drain lines that are leaking, keep handles of ice scoops out of ice, to be corrected by July 1.

April 23

Lincoln Square Pancake House

Location: 118 W. Main St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — some sausage links and patties in hot holding not at or above 135 degrees, corrected/discarded; NC — repair sink and tiles under dish machine that have come off, to be corrected by July 1.

Dairy Queen

Location: 801 W. Main St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC — lead from roof dripping on side of hood vent, to be corrected by May 1; C — clean tong had some food debris, corrected.

McDonald’s

Location: 2290 N. County Road 600 W, Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

No violations found.

Speedway

Location: 2668 N. County Road 600 W, Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC — clean doors and handles of equipment/coolers in kitchen area, corrected.

Circle K

Location: 2224 N. County Road 600 W, Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — need employee health policy and reviewed, must not exceed date-marking placed on nacho cheese and chili, corrected; C — chili and nacho cheese must be held at 135 degrees or higher, ready-to-eat sandwiches must be held at 41 degrees or lower, corrected/discarded; NC — sanitizing test strips must be available and used, need hand soap at new hand sink, need paper towels at new hand sink, to be corrected by May 10.

Burger King

Location: 2706 N. County Road 600 W, Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC — in use utensils such as tongs need to be stored on clean surfaces, corrected; C — clean “touch points” such as microwave handle, markers, etc., every four hours in touching between food and not changing food handling gloves, corrected; NC/R — clean floors under equipment and along edges so as to remove black build-up, clean equipment such as wheels, trash cans, etc., so as to remove debris build-up, to be corrected by July 1.
