The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

March 24

Cracker Barrel

2265 Barrett Drive, Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine.

Violations found: C — dish machine not reading 180 degrees, corrected; NC — employee seen breaking eggs without food handling gloves on, then touching utensils, corrected; repair leak of stainless steel lone/scrap sink, to be corrected by July 1.

April 4

Woodland Terrace of New Palestine

Location: 4400 Terrace Drive, New Palestine

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — employees need to wash hands after touching soiled dishes and before touching clean dishes, employees seen touching hat with food handling gloves then going to touch food, corrected.

April 5

Gettinger Family Custom Meats

Location: 5971 W. U. S. Highway 52, New Palestine

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — spray bottles with sanitizer need to be labeled with common name, corrected; NC — obtain test strips for sanitizer, to be corrected by July 1.

April 9

Kroger

Location: 1571 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC/R — clean floors/rack where grime/build-up is present in deli, to be corrected by July 1; C/R — clean doors of deli case every four hours, to be corrected by April 12; C — employee seen touching pen and clip board with food handling gloves on, then touching food, corrected; NC — can see daylight at door in receiving area, to be corrected by July 1.

April 10

Culver’s

Location: 1846 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — frontlines cold holding unit — sour cream too warm, corrected; NC — handles of spoons in cheese and onion on front line to be above food, corrected.

April 13

Wendy’s

Location: 2809 N. County Road 600 W, Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — sanitizing solution not dispensing at three-compartment sink, corrected; NC — need to have test strips available for sanitizer, to be corrected by July 1.

April 16

Meijer

Location: 6931 W. Broadway, McCordville

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC — repair dock doors so as to be tight fitting, to be corrected by July 1; C — any “touch points” need to be considered food contact surface if going to touch surface between touching food, corrected.

April 18

Bonnie & Clyde’s Restaurant

Location: 7242 U.S. 52 West, New Palestine

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R — mark working containers such as spray bottles with correct name of chemical, corrected; NC/R — clean floors in corners/crevices along wall/floor juncture; clean wall under dish washing machine, clean outsides of trash cans and outside of mop sink, to be corrected by July 1.

Zapp Thai Restaurant

Location: 2045 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R — need certified food handler, to be corrected by July 1; C/R — employees need to be trained as to when to wash hands, change gloves and be aware of what they are touching with gloves on, to be corrected by April 23; NC — ice scoop by ice machine must be stored in a protective manner, corrected; NC — dish machine wash cycle need to reach at least 120 degrees, to be corrected by July 1; NC/R — hood needs to be cleaned to remove grease build-up and debris, to be corrected by July 1.

Jack’s Donuts

Location: 1522 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine
