The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

Feb. 22

Penn Station

Location: 1667 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — working containers (spray bottles) need to be marked with common name of content, to be corrected by Feb. 28; C — need to have proof of food handler certification in store, to be corrected by May 1; C — no sanitizer in third compartment of three-compartment sink or in wiping cloth bucket, corrected.

Mozzi’s

Location: 1282 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC — clean floors in crevices/wall floor junctures and under equipment where build-up has developed. Also clean inside walk-in cooler door and outside of trash can, to be corrected by June 1.

Florida Cracker BBQ

Location: 812 S. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC/R — clean fry baskets, sides of frying equipment, hot hold units/warmers, coolers/refrigerators interiors and gaskets, ledge of ice machine, to be corrected by May 1; NC — clean wall behind hot hold/warmers, clean floor under prep cooler, to be corrected by May 1; NC — need thin-tipped thermometer for thin meats, to be corrected by May 1; C — sanitizing solution of three-compartment sink and sani-bucket testing too low, corrected.

Long John Silver’s

Location: 2080 W. Main St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Location: 1571 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R — outdated deli meats, corrected/discarded; C/R — outdated baby formula, corrected/discarded; NC/R — clean floors, tables, legs, shelves where debris has built up in deli/bakery area, to be corrected by May 1; NC — need to use sanitizing test strips to confirm correct concentration, corrected; NC — need to provide tissue paper/tongs in customer self-service area for donuts, corrected.

Round the Corner Pub

Location: 19 S. Bittner Road, New Palestine

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C — need to be sure to place correct date on ready-to-eat, potentially hazardous foods when date marking, corrected; C — slicer and clean stored dishes/equipment must be clean to sight and touch, to be corrected by Feb. 23; NC — need to use proper thawing procedures, may not thaw at room temperature, to be corrected by Feb. 23; NC — ice machine discharge must not be discharged into prep sink, to be corrected by May 1; NC/R — continue repair of wall behind dish machine, to be corrected by May 1; NC — need to protect doors from pests entering premises, corrected.
