Junior Addison True hit a running bank shot from the left side of the court just before the buzzer Tuesday to help Eastern Hancock pull out at 76-75 win against Triton Central.

True finished with a team-high 22 points, while Duncan Cherry and Tyler Blattner added 19 each.

Wyatt Felling led the Tigers, who held a 39-33 advantage at halftime, with 25 points.

A 22-13 third-quarter run would be good enough to seal the win for the Royals (11-7).

Junior guard A.J. Muegge added nine points and five rebounds for Eastern Hancock. True grabbed eight rebounds and junior forward Jacob Eischen had five.

Gymnastics

New Palestine improves to 10-1

New Palestine’s gymnastics team beat Scecina 101.275-89.5 on Wednesday.

The Dragons had two of the top three finishers in the all-around. Faith Land won with a final score of 34.125. Emily Heighway was third with a 32.05.

Land was the winner on vault with a 9.1. Heighway placed third (8.8) and Bailey Watkins fifth (8.175).

On the uneven bars, Heighway won with a 8.85. Land and Grace Shanahan tied for third and Taylor Brown was sixth.

New Palestine swept the top three spots on the balance beam. Land won (8.725), followed by Shanahan (8.525) and Watkins (8.325).

On the floor exercise, Heighway led the Dragons with a second-place finish (8.425). Land was third (8.4), Alex Black fifth (8.15) and Kinsey Dilley sixth (8.025).

The Dragons will compete again today at the Bloomington North Invitational.

Boys Swimming

Mt. Vernon defeats Cascade

Mt. Vernon earned a 104-71 win against Cascade on Thursday in the team’s final regular season meet. No individual finishes were available.
