Francis “Bud” Jenkins, 83, of Fortville, died on Monday, Dec. 29, 2014, after a long illness.

When growning up, Bud attended several schools in southwestern Marion County. Then before graduating from Arsenal Tech High School, he attended Mexico Military Academy in Mexico, Mo.

He joined the Navy in 1950 and was eventually selected to attend the Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. After deciding that a career in the Navy was not for him, he returned to Indianapolis and became an apprentice tool and die maker. He advanced in that field to become president and general manager of Universal Tool and Engineering, Indianapolis, where he was employed for 47 years.

He is survived by his wife, of nearly 60 years, Carolyn Suiter Jenkins and his devoted children, Lisa (Kris) Wilson of Brookville and Matthew (Joani) Jenkins of Fortville. His loving grandchildren are,  Kyle Wilson of Arkadelphia, Ark., Tyler Wilson of Pendleton and Ashley and Abagael Jenkins of Fortville. Having no siblings of his own, he revered his in-laws, James and Sydney  Suiter of Carmel; Linda and Larry Downey and Sara and James Ashby of Castleton; and Phillip and Chris Suiter of Fishers.

He was predeceased by his parents, Francis Jenkins Sr. and Eleanor N. Jenkins.

Friends may visit the family from 4-8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2015, at the funeral home. Funeral services will be held at Seals Funeral Home, Fortville, at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 2, 2015, with burial following at Oaklawn Cemetery in Fishers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
