Norman C. Shaw, age 80, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011, at his residence. Born on March 17, 1930, in Hancock County, he was the son of Leslie and Opal (Wood) Shaw.

He graduated from Greenfield High School in 1948. Norman married Gwendolyn Shaw who preceded him in death and later married Nancy (Duzan) Crickmore-Shaw on May 10, 1986. He worked as a farmer, school bus driver, IMI mechanic for 23 years, and was a sheriff reserve officer for 18 years. Mr. Shaw was a Past Master of Eden Lodge #477 for 50 years, member of York Rite for 50 years, Elks Lodge member where he served all offices, was a Trustee, and a past Exalted Ruler, and a member of the New Palestine United Church. He raised exotic pets, was an avid airplane pilot who built RC airplanes, and was a 4H leader in Hancock County.

Surviving him are his wife; children, Sidney (Etta) Shaw, Joseph (Sue) Shaw, and Chris Shaw all of Greenfield; step-children, Tom (Mary) Crickmore of Pendleton, Tondia (Gary) Scheiter of Greenfield; eleven grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren. Preceding him in death were his parents; first wife; brother, Oswyn Earl Shaw; stepson, Joe Crickmore; granddaughter, Dawn Shaw; and nephew, Scottie Shaw.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 9, 2011, at Erlewein Mortuary in Greenfield, with a Masonic service beginning at 7:30 p.m. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 10, 2011, also at the mortuary. Reverend Carl Coffey will be officiating. Burial will follow at Park Cemetery in Greenfield.
