The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually, and violations are labeled “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

Dec. 21

Zapp Thai Restaurant

Location: 2045 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C – need certified food handler, to be corrected by March 1; C – need employee health policy and needs to be reviewed periodically with all employees, to be corrected by Dec. 30; protect shredded cabbage during prep process, corrected; C – when cooking chicken, chicken must be cooked to 165 degrees, corrected/discarded; dish machine is not sanitizing at the correct concentration, called for service; C – must date-mark foods prepared and stored more than 24 hours when prepped in house, to be corrected by Dec. 21; C – hand sink near food prep cannot be used to store equipment, corrected; NC – ice scoop must be stored between uses in clean, protected manner, corrected; NC – need food temperature thermometer on premises, to be corrected by Dec. 30; NC/R – dish machine wash cycle needs to reach at least 120 degrees, called for service; NC – lids for equipment/pans for prep cooler must be stored in manner to keep them clean and protected, move from hand sink area to prevent splash, corrected.

Papa John’s

Location: 1001 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C – need certified food handler for location, to be corrected by March 1; C – pre-cooked chicken wings must be date-marked with correct information, corrected; C – need to wash hands after handling food and before handling clean stored equipment/utensils, corrected; C/R – food debris in hand sink by three-compartment sink, corrected; NC – calibrate thermometers as needed to maintain accuracy, to be corrected by March 1; NC – need sanitizing test strips on premises, to be corrected by Dec. 30; NC – clean storage containers holding cleaned equipment/utensils, to be corrected by March 1; NC – hood, filters and ceiling around pizza oven needs to be cleaned, to be corrected by March 1; ceiling has drywall damage that needs to be repaired, fan above boxing station needs cleaned, to be corrected by March 1; repair broken coving, to be corrected by March 1.

Location: 1215 W. Main St., Greenfield
