The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually, and violations are labeled “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.

Location: 1508 N. State Road 9, Greenfield

Violations found: C/R – hamburger cooler too warm, breaker blown, corrected; C — need to prevent contamination of shaker, spatula, apron, etc. from raw meat placed on grill with bare hand, corrected; C – no sanitizing chemical is available to be used, to be corrected by Nov. 2; NC/R – flooring needs to be repaired to prevent accumulation of debris at floor drain, plumbing leak at three-compartment sink, soap dispenser needs to be hung to provide access.

Quality Inn

Location: 2770 N. State St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: NC/R – post current permit in public view, to be corrected by Nov. 3; C – sanitizing solution too strong, corrected; NC – test strips for sanitizing solution need to be used each time to confirm concentration, corrected; NC – need food thermometer provided and accessible, to be corrected by Nov. 20; NC – all fruits (apples) with edible peels must be protected from contamination – after washing apples, apples should be wrapped or placed in bowl with utensil for consumer for self-service, to be corrected by Nov. 20.

Carol’s Cornerstone Cafe

Location: 301 E. Main St., Greenfield

Type of Inspection: Routine

Violations found: C/R – store raw meats separated from each other by cooking temperature. Cannot store hamburger, chicken, etc. in same container. Store lettuce above chicken. Civil penalties may apply, corrected; C/R – need sanitizing solution for ware washing machine available and used. Use three-compartment sink until capable of proper sanitizing. Civil penalties may apply, corrected; NC/R – wiping cloths need to be stored in sanitizing solution between uses, corrected; NC – need detergent for ware washing machine available and used.
