GREENFIELD – More than $4,000 was raised for local organizations in an event last month that joined Jeeps, food and vendors.

When I was a kid, after dinner we cleared the table and scraped whatever was left on our plates into a kitchen garbage bag. That bag was then dumped in one of two huge metal drums on the side of our house that were below ground. Not buried treasure: buried trash. On Mondays some guy yanked the drums out of the ground and hauled them to the street where he threw the contents in the back of a garbage truck. That’s when every dog in the neighborhood started barking.

Yogi doesn’t like to be separated from mom. So when she was working on a project in the basement, I opened the door and led him down there so he could supervise what she was doing. He enjoyed doing his reconnaissance and securing the perimeter, which basically means sniffing around a new space.

GREENFIELD – The stress and expense of back-to-school shopping will be eased a bit next week with a free community event serving up supplies, food and fun.

GREENFIELD – This marks the final week to view the 2022 Will Vawter Juried Exhibit, capping off a season celebrating Hoosier works and Greenfield’s artistic roots.
