Fabric, stationary designer to speak at quilt guild

GREENFIELD – The Common Threads Quilt Guild welcomes Moda fabric and stationary designer Deb Strain to its July 20 meeting.

Anyone is welcome to attend to learn about Strain’s method for creating artwork, fabric and stationary. The meeting is at 9:30 a.m. July 20 in the community room of Ninestar Connect, 2243 E. Greenfield Chamber to host several summer events

GREENFIELD – The Greenfield Area Chamber of Commerce has several events coming up.

An after-hours membership appreciation and networking event will be 4:30-7 p.m. July 7. The Party on the Plaza will have a Christmas in July theme; registration is required at greenfieldcc.org.

The Greenfield Area Chamber Classic Golf Tournament is scheduled for 11:30 a.m. July 15 at Royal Hylands Golf Club, 7629 S. Greensboro Pike, Knightstown. Sponsorship and marketing opportunities are available; call 317-477-4188 for details.

Trivia event to benefit soup kitchen

GREENFIELD – A trivia event will benefit the Kenneth Butler Memorial Soup Kitchen July 23.

The event, 5:30-8:30 p.m. at the Elk’s Club with James Wood of Green Light Trivia, is $10 for admission. An optional dinner is provided by Greenfield Elks for $7 and the game starts at 6 p.m. The club is located at 820 S. State St., Greenfield. For more, email [email protected] or call 317-492-9900.

McCordsville Community Day planned

MCCORDSVILLE – The McCordsville Police Department and the Hancock County 911 Center will host Community Day 5-8 p.m. Aug. 5 at McCordsville Town Park.

The event will offer free food and games, K9 demonstrations, fire trucks, a monster truck and more. The event will also feature a food drive and participants are asked to bring non-perishable food donations. For updates, visit facebook.com and search “Community Day 2022.”

Community shred days scheduled

GREENFIELD – Greenfield Banking Company continues to host community shred days through October at several banking locations.

Free, on-site shredding will be 9 a.m. to noon at least one Saturday a month, including July 23 at the Fortville office; Sept. 17 at the New Palestine office; and Oct. 1 at the main office in Greenfield.

The service is for paper documents only and people are asked to limit documents to a maximum of three tall kitchen trash bags (13 gallon size). Services are provided by Stericycle Shred-it; participants must remove documents from their own vehicles to hand to an attendant at a shred truck.

Tactical team to host golf fundraiser

KNIGHTSTOWN– The Hancock County Joint Tactical Team will host its 2022 golf tournament fundraiser at 1 p.m. Aug. 17 at Royal Hylands Golf Club, 7629 S. Greensboro Pike, Knightstown.

Cost is $240 per team and $100 hole sponsorships are available, as well as monetary or non-monetary donations. Prizes will be given to winning teams and other raffle items are available at the event.
