As I write this, it is a beautiful day in central Indiana. The sun is shining, birds are singing and at least for now, it seems that winter has been kicked to the curb. For most of us, this is a blessed season.

Vernon Township Fire Department firefighters visited Gateway Community Church in Fortville recently to teach the preschool and kindergarten students there about fire safety. Students were invited to sit in the firetruck and the ambulance. Firefighter Dylan put on all his gear and reminded the children that while firefighters might look and sound scary with all their gear on, they are here to help in an emergency.
