GREENFIELD — John Paulson, former pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Greenfield, died Sept. 13 in Carmel. He was 81.

Officials from the Greenfield Fire Territory sent out congratulations to the 19 young men and women who worked hard over the last four months to earn their Firefighter 1 and 2, hazmat awareness and operations certifications. Many of these new firefighters will go on to become firefighters for both career and volunteer departments. The GFT sent out a special thanks to all of the instructors who helped make the certification last weekend possible.

I recently watched a Youtube post of a podcast done by a once-popular reporter of the news on television. The topic of this particular podcast episode was Religion and Faith, and the reporter had a minister from a well-known and influential Christian denomination as a guest on her show.

Vernon Township Fire Department firefighters visited Gateway Community Church in Fortville recently to teach the preschool and kindergarten students there about fire safety. Students were invited to sit in the firetruck and the ambulance. Firefighter Dylan put on all his gear and reminded the children that while firefighters might look and sound scary with all their gear on, they are here to help in an emergency.
