Restaurant inspections
The Hancock County Health Department inspects restaurants four times annually and violations are determined as “C” for critical, “NC” for noncritical and “R” for repeated violations. The following inspections are based on information obtained from Retail Food Inspection Reports.
April 21
Subway
Location: 6621 W. Broadway St., McCordsville
Type of Inspection: Routine
Violations found: C/R — sour cream in waitress area is at 55 degrees, food in reach-in cooler below pass-thru is holding food at 51–53 degrees, cooked potatoes are below 135 degrees and above 41 degrees (cold food needs at be at 41 degrees or below; hot-held food needs to be at 135 degrees or above), to be corrected by April 22; NC/R — need to have soap at hand sink, not sanitizer, to be corrected by April 22; NC/R — improper thawing method observed — food sitting out, corrected; C — spray bottles with chemical need to be marked with common name of chemical, to be corrected by April 22; NC — flour on equipment and flour around contain of flour used for breading, to be corrected by May 1.

Violations found: C — foods in hot-holding are less than 135 degrees, corrected; NC — ventilation hood is dripping, to be corrected by May 1.
Maxwell Intermediate School
Location: 102 N. Main St., Maxwell
Type of Inspection: Routine
Violations found: NC — walk-in freezer has ice build-up with ice forming on top shelving and small portion of the ceiling, to be corrected by May 22.
