Leroy Edgar Hubble, 89, of Greenfield, passed from this life on Oct. 23, 2012. Born in Somerset, Ky. on April 4, 1923, he was the youngest of three boys and four girls, born to Edgar Hubble and Nena Sweeney Hubble.

Leroy served as a surgeon's assistant in WWII, in the U.S. Navy, aboard The Houston. After the war, he moved to Shelbyville where he worked as a heating and air conditioning specialist at Farquar Garber Company. For 18 years he taught heating and air at Ivy Tech. He ended his career with eight years in maintenance at Goodwill Industries.

Leroy is survived by his lovely wife of 57 years, Betty Schildmeier Hubble; and a sister-in-law, Marion Hubble of Turlock, Calif. Leroy was the beloved uncle of many nephews and nieces, Dale Garber of Houston, Cindy Dungan, Doug Schildmeier and Susan Sedam of Greenfield, Mike Schildmeier of Nineveh, Ind., Sherri Cutter of Dillsboro, Ind.; great-niece, Holly Kunz of Arrington, Tenn. Many more great nieces and nephews survive.

Leroy was a devoted Christian and a member of Zion United Church of Christ, 8916 E. Troy Ave., Indianapolis, IN 46239, where memorial contributions may be made. Friends may call at 12 p.m. Rev. Bev Kahle of Zion will conduct the service at 2 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26, at Hendryx Mortuary in Cumberland. Internment will be at Memorial Park Cemetery.
