Norman D. Roach, 79, passed away on Oct. 23, 2012, at IU Hospital in Indianapolis. Born on June 18, 1933, in Daviess County, Ind., he was the son of Elza and Mary (Thomas) Roach. He served in the National Guard. He married Darlene Gaultney on Jan. 24, 1953, in Bedford, IN.

Norman worked for Summit Construction in Indianapolis as a shop manager for many years before retiring in 1999, and had previously worked at Tuttle’s Orchard. He was a member or Bethel Baptist Church in Lapel. He collected light houses and enjoyed gardening and fishing.

Surviving Norman are his wife, Darlene Roach of McCordsville; children, Carla Egerton of Anderson, Marla Roach of Fortville, Steven D. (Jennifer) Roach of Fortville; brother, Ronnie (Glenda) Roach of Jonesboro, Ark.; sisters, Shirley Williams of Oolitic, Judy Figg of Ellettsville; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and 1 great- great-greatdaughter.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Elza and Mary Roach; brother, Donald Roach; and son-in-law, Jim Egerton.

Visitation will be from 3 until 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at Erlewein Mortuary in Fortville. A funeral service will follow the visitation beginning at 7 p.m. Additional calling will be held on Saturday, Oct. 27, 2012, at the Elnora Christian Church with visitation there from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Elnora, Ind.
