More than 60 members of the New York Central System Historical Society’s convention visited Shirley April 27. They were visiting from a convention in Indianapolis and toured Shirley’s 1910 wooden caboose and 1893 depot. Maurice Lewman, a local retired railroad engineer, was on hand to tell several local stories about his career. Two members of the Shirley Visionaries attended the convention to learn about local railways, which may be added to the town’s historical displays.
