Vendor market coming to fair this year

GREENFIELD — The Country Vintage Market is coming to the Hancock County4-H Fair this year.

The market is hosted by the Hancock County Extension Homemakers and the HC 4-H Ag

Association and will feature local vendors in two buildings on the fairgrounds from 1-9 p.m. June 9. Those interested in being a vendor should call Margie Clark, 317-498-1549, or Vickie Ramsey, 317-753-4144.

Homemakers to celebrate achievements

GREENFIELD – Achievement Night with the theme “Let’s Celebrate You” is coming up May 22 for Hancock County Extension Homemakers.

The event is at 6 p.m. at the Hancock County Fairgrounds and is $20 per person; dinner included. Club members will wrap up the 2023-2024 years and look ahead. Each club will share their “Make a Difference” project and report on this year’s activities. Outgoing officers will be thanked and new officers welcomed. Reserve a spot to May 16 by mailing checks made payable to Hancock County Extension Homemakers, sent to Margie Clark, 9795 N. 500E., Morristown.

Tri Kappa to sell donuts again at fair

GREENFIELD – Local sorority Tri Kappa is looking forward to selling donuts at the Hancock County 4-H Fair again this year.

The group is planning a new schedule, based on the expanded calendar for the 2024 fair.

The Tri Kappa donut booth will be open 4-9 p.m. June 18, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. June 18, 4-9 p.m. June 20, 4-9 p.m. June 21, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. June 22, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. June 23, 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. June 24, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. June 25, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. June 26 and 4-9 p.m. June 27.

Tri Kappa has been making donuts at the fair since 1980, back when the group was thrilled with a $500 profit from the first event, according to a press release from the club. Now, they make roughly 18,000 donuts at the fair as a fundraiser to help local groups.

Tri Kappa is a charitable non-profit organization and all funds go back into Hancock County to various nonprofit organizations, including The Landing Place, Talitha Koum Recovery House, The Hope House, Kenneth Butler Memorial Soup Kitchen, Bentley’s Buddies and more. Scholarships are also given to local students.

Fundraiser Wednesday to benefit veterans

GREENFIELD – A dining event fundraiser is coming up, raising money for American Legion Post 119 to aid veterans in need.

Dining with the Legion Day is from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 8 at Lincoln Square Pancake House, 118 W. Main St., Greenfield.

In addition to a percentage of proceeds at the restaurant going to veterans that day, there will be a donation box for patrons to donate directly. American Legion members will also be there to greet the public.

CASA to benefit from dining fundraiser

GREENFIELD – A dining fundraiser coming up will benefit Court Appointed Special Advocates.

Donate While You Dine is set for 5-8 pm. May 14 at Culver’s, 1846 N. State St., Greenfield. A percentage of every order during these hours will go towards Hancock County Friends of CASA to help improve the lives of abused and neglected children. Drive-through customers are included; no coupon is needed.
