Annual spring plant sale this weekend

GREENFIELD – A spring plant sale is coming to the Hancock County Fairgrounds.

The Hancock County Master Gardeners and Hancock County Herb Society annual sale is 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 3 and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 4 at the 4-H Show Arena, 620 N. Apple St., Greenfield.

Riley Wranglers craft fair Saturday

GREENFIELD – The Riley Wranglers Square Dance Club will host its 38th annual craft fair from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 4.

The event is at the Hancock County Fairgrounds, 620 Apple St., Greenfield. Admission and parking are free.

Summer musical auditions this weekend

GREENFIELD — The CrazyLake Acting Company will host auditions for its summer musical production of “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” from 6-8:30 p.m. May 5 and May 6 in the Dungeon at 98 E. North St. in Greenfield.

Auditioners should wear comfortable clothing suitable for movement and prepare 30-60 seconds of a song to sing a cappella. No audition monologues are required. The first half of the audition will be choreography and vocal auditions and the second half will be reading from the script.

“The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” is a fictional competition between six quirky middle school students who sing about their home lives, their hopes and dreams and their fears in between rounds of the spelling bee. The cast is rounded out by school personnel and members of the spellers’ families. Parts are available for six males, five females and one that can be either. Parts are available for males and females aged 18 and older.

Photography exhibit coming to gallery

GREENFIELD — “Photography From You” will be featured at the Twenty North Gallery in May.

Cash awards will be given to winners of the photography contest exhibit, and photos will be on display throughout the month.

A reception is from 6:30-8:30 p.m. May 10. The gallery is located at 20 N. State St., Greenfield. Regular hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. For more, visit hancockcountyarts.org.

Country rock band heading to HCPL

GREENFIELD – Catch a special unplugged performance by hillbilly country-rock band Union Suit Rally later this month.

The free event for all ages is at 6:30 p.m. May 23 at the Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield. With instruments like guitars, banjos and mandolins, the group creates a fusion capturing the essence of the Midwest, according to the HCPL. To register or for more information, visit hcplibrary.org.
