Libraries to host programs for adults

HANCOCK COUNTY – Several free programs for adults are coming up in May at local libraries.

Adult Crafternoon Club is May 21 at the Hancock County Public Library in Greenfield. The library will also host Writers Helping Writers May 16, a Brown Bag book discussion May 14, and yoga May 25.

Bill Fisher will be the Local Author Series speaker this month, with a presentation May 21. Receive training on creating an Individual Education Program (IEP) for students with special needs May 22. Celebrate Historic Preservation Month in an event May 29 with a guest speaker from the Department of Natural Resources’ Division of Historic Preservation and Archeology. At the Vernon Township Public Library in Fortville, adult English literacy classes continue on Tuesdays and Wednesdays in May. New Pal town council members free for “chat”

NEW PALESTINE – Two town council members will be available to talk with at an upcoming event.

Chat with the Council is at 8 a.m. May 3 at Tia’s, 5933 U.S. 52 Suite N, New Palestine. Council members Ethan Maple and Bill Niemeier will be present as an opportunity for residents of the New Pal community to share thoughts and ideas for the town.

Line dance, fitness classes open in McCordsville

MCCORDSVILLE – The town of McCordsville is offering line dance and fitness classes.

Several blood drives scheduled locally

GREENFIELD – Mobile blood drives are coming up in Hancock County in May.

Suburban Home Health Bloodmobile will be at 628 N. Meridian Road, Greenfield May 7. St. Michaels Catholic Church is hosting a mobile drive May 12 and Wooden Bear Brewing will host a drive May 25.

Hancock Wellness Center in Greenfield is hosting a drive May 16, while the New Palestine wellness center will host a drive May 28.

On the northwest side of the county, Fortville Christian Church will host a drive May 20 and McCordsville United Methodist Church will host a drive May 23.
