Weekend Softball Roundup: G-C wins seventh straight

A bases-loaded walk drove in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to give Greenfield-Central’s softball team its seventh straight victory.

LeiLeanna Faitele walked with the bases loaded to give G-C a 7-6 win over Indian Creek, at home, Saturday night.

G-C got out to a 4-0 lead after two innings. Indian Creek cut it to 4-3 after five and led 6-5 going into the bottom of the seventh.

Josie White and Leilani Forshey each had home runs for the Cougars. White, Kristen Wineinger and Charlotte Riehle each had two hits. Addi Heacox was the winning pitcher in relief.

Makenna Rankins had a base-hit to start the seventh-inning rally.

On Thursday, G-C defeated Rushville 19-0.

Forshey hit three home runs and had six RBI. Riehle drove in five runs and had two hits, including a double.

Wineinger had a home run and three RBI. Heacox also had a home run. White and Riehle each had two hits.

Heacox went all five innings in the circle to pick up the win. She gave up four hits and had one strikeout. She did not walk anyone.

Marauders lose to Tigers

In the completion of a game suspended due to rain earlier in the month, Mt. Vernon’s softball team lost 10-3 to visiting Yorktown Friday.

Shelby Rakosky had three hits, including a double, and an RBI. Graci Hines and Ainsley Baer each had an RBI.
