Weekend Golf Roundup: Lemmon leads Mt. Vernon at Spacey Invitational

Mt. Vernon’s boys golf team shot a 323 and tied for fifth out of 17 teams at the Bob Spacey Noblesville Invitational at Fox Prairie Golf Course Saturday.

Marauder freshman Elijah Lemmon was third overall with a four-over-par 75. Noblesville’s Tyler Marucci was the individual winner with an even-par 71.

Mt. Vernon’s Brady Pearson tied for 15th with an 80. Nils Erkmanis tied for 18th with an 81.

Both Drew Lowder and Asher Cotton shot 87s and tied for 38th place.

Dragons third at Martinsville

New Palestine boys golf team placed third at Saturday’s Martinsville Artesian Classic.

The Dragons shot a 340, led by third-place finisher Joey McPike, who finished with an 80.

Nick Barada placed 10th with an 84. Luke Cofer added an 86. Ty Mitchell shot 90 and Josiah Kissel carded a 92.

On Thursday, in a tri-meet with Columbus North and Shelbyville, at Shelbyville, the Dragons lost the highly-competitive match by one stroke.

Shelbyville won with a 159. Both New Palestine and Columbus North shot 160.

Cofer and Barada were match medalists with 38s. Kissel and Mitchell each shot 42 and McPike had a 44.

Royals beat Wes-Del

Eastern Hancock’s boys golf team defeated Wes-Del at Royal Hylands 172-214, Thursday.

Parker Atkins led the way with a 38. Jacob Jackson followed with a 41. Conner Cook shot 46 and Zach Stephens and Corey Leece each finished with 47s.
