Annual spring plant sale coming up

GREENFIELD – A spring plant sale is coming to the Hancock County Fairgrounds.

The Hancock County Master Gardeners and Hancock County Herb Society annual sale is 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. May 3 and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. May 4 at the 4-H Show Arena, 620 N. Apple St., Greenfield.

MV seeks residence documents from students

FORTVILLE – Mt. Vernon Community Schools are requesting parents and guardians of kindergarteners through 11th grade to upload a new proof of residency in their Skyward Family Access portal this month.

The state requires all school districts to have a valid proof of residency on file and the MV district is preparing for an expected data audit. Proof of residency documents require one of the following: residential building permit; rental agreement or mortgage statement; property tax statement or title document; voter registration card; or two types of utility bills dated within 60 days of submission.

For assistance uploading proof of residency, parents and guardians can take their documents to one of their schools or attend one of these information events where Spanish translators will be in attendance: 4-6:30 p.m. April 23 at Mt. Comfort Elementary School; and 4-6:30 p.m. April 24 at Mt. Vernon Middle School.

Foundation to host nonprofit bus tour

GREENFIELD – A luxury bus tour is heading around Hancock

County May 10, allowing people to visit five sites and experience nonprofit opportunities in the community.

The Community Foundation of Hancock County is hosting a Hancock County Community Tour from 8:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 10. The free event is limited to the first 40 who register, and all participants will receive a free set of earbuds. Stops include Agape Therapeutic Riding Resources East, Nameless Creek Camp, Friends of the Theatre, The Alley (Fortville) and the town of McCordsville. Mobile blood drives coming up

HANCOCK COUNTY – Several mobile blood drives are coming up across Hancock County this month.

Bradley United Methodist Church will host a blood drive April 15; Greenfield Intermediate School will host a drive April 16.

Hancock County Public Library in Greenfield will host a drive April 20; while the HCPL Sugar Creek branch in New Palestine will host a drive April 24. Also in New Palestine, Zion Lutheran Church will host a drive April 27.

Avery Dennison will host a drive April 18; Hancock Regional Hospital in Greenfield will host a mobile drive April 19. Calvary Baptist Church and Noah’s Ark Daycare in Greenfield will host a drive April 30.
