Parker to informally connect with community

FORTVILLE – Superintendent Dr. Jack Parker of Mt. Vernon schools will host “traveling talks” events this spring.

The events are an opportunity for members of the community to informally meet with the superintendent and share their thoughts, questions and concerns about the schools.

No reservation is necessary. Talks are scheduled for noon this Thursday at Sero’s Family Restaurant, 11720 E. Washington St., Indianapolis; and 7 p.m. April 18 at Libby’s Ice Cream & Gifts, 11 S. Main St., Fortville. Participants can enjoy a free cookie or $1 of ice cream at the Libby’s event.

Drum-inspired workouts offered in McCordsville

MCCORDSVILLE – The Town of McCordsville is offering a free, six-week fitness class at Town Hall Park starting April 4.

Pound Fitness is a workout program with a certified instructor from Fusion Fittique. The high-energy, drumming-inspired workout meets twice a week, at 6 p.m. Thursdays and 9 a.m. Saturdays at Town Hall Park, 6280 W. 800N. Shoe The World drive this month

GREENFIELD – The annual Shoe The World Drive is happening this month, benefiting Changing Footprints, which provides shoes free of charge to people in the community.

Drop off new or used shoe donations to Erlewein Mortuary and Crematory weekdays between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. or Saturdays between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. The drive continues now through March 31. The mortuary is located at 1484 W. U.S. 40, Greenfield.
