Congregations plan to come together at several Good Friday services in the area.

-A community Good Friday service is set for noon Friday at Realife Church, 5151 W. U.S. 40. Greater Greenfield Ministerial Association organizes the annual service, and area ministers take part in leading it.

-Community Ministerial Alliance, a group of Shirley-area churches, will have a community Good Friday service at 6 p.m. Friday at Shirley Friends Church, 101 Main St.

The Rev. Rick Hutson, pastor of Shirley-Wilkinson Community United Methodist Church, will be the speaker.

The Community Ministerial Alliance has been sponsoring a Good Friday service and a Thanksgiving service for about 20 years, first as a Shirley ministerial alliance but later under its current name.

The group typically rotates locations for these community services. Pastors from the churches involved take turns delivering the sermon. Other churches often offer some other part of the service, such as a song or a poem.

Participating churches are Christ Fellowship Church, Grant City Wesleyan Church, Shirley Friends Church, Shirley Church of the Nazarene, Shirley-Wilkinson Community United Methodist Church, Warrington Church of the Nazarene and Wilkinson Church of Christ. You do not have to attend one of those churches to go to the service.

-In Fortville, two churches plan to worship together on Good Friday and welcome anyone else who wants to come. Fortville Church of the Nazarene and New Life Christian Fellowship will have a service at 7 p.m. Friday at FCN’s building, 701 S. Maple St. New Life’s pastor, Mark Adcock, will be the speaker.
