Emily Gorman shared this shot, taken from her backyard on a foggy morning on the east side of Hancock County. “Skillet the donkey is taking a nap in the foreground and behind him you can see the silhouette of his best friend and sidekick, Dani the horse,” she wrote. “Both Skillet and Dani moved to Indiana in 2021 from a summer camp in the Catskill Mountains of upstate N.Y. Dani is 32 years old and will live out her days getting spoiled on our little homestead. Skillet (8 years old) is our neighborhood alarm clock with his incredibly loud ‘brays’ and also our resident guard dog, alerting us to (and chasing off) any predators or intruders in the area. He also likes to use his voice to demand treats and snacks on a very regular basis.”
