Local singers sought for Motown show

GREENFIELD – Local performers are sought for a February performance of Indianapolis soul band Frederic and Ronza and their show “Motown Forever – Can you feel it.”

The show will involve singers from the community – made up of a choir called “Local Vocals” and dancers from Wilkerson Dance Studio in Greenfield.

Anyone who wishes to participate in the choir can come to rehearsal at 7 p.m. Feb. 22 at the H.J. Ricks Centre for the Arts, 122 W. Main St., Greenfield. The choir is also practicing in Indianapolis leading up to the event in February. For more, contact Frederic and Ronza at [email protected] or 616-250-8376.

The show will feature later Motown music from the 80’s as well as classic Motown songs.

Mental health course Feb. 29

GREENFIELD – A course on how to help someone with a mental health problem is coming up.

Mental Health First Aid will be from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 29 at Purdue Extension Hancock County, 972 E. Park Ave., Greenfield.

The $130 course includes lunch and snacks, and teaches participants how to help people in a mental health crisis; signs and symptoms of anxiety, depression, substance abuse and more; and awareness of the impact of mental health and substance abuse stigma can have.

Women in ag event this month

FORT WAYNE – The 2024 Ag Women Engage Conference is set for Feb. 22 in Fort Wayne.

The event allows women in agriculture to connect with each other. The Purdue Women Agriculture Team offers the annual event, designed to educate and uplift women involved in any aspect of the industry, through workshops, a keynote speaker, breakout presentations and more. The keynote presentation will be by Amanda Radke, a fifth generation rancher and author, on “Plant & Prune the Family Ag Business to Reap a Bountiful Harvest.”

Conference fee is $100. Registration is at purdue.link/AWE2024. Deadline to register is Feb. 13.
