Scholarship applications available for G-C students

GREENFIELD – Applications are open now for 2024 scholarships through the Greenfield Central School Foundation.

Opportunities are open to all Greenfield-Central seniors; $71,000 in scholarships will be awarded this year. Included are: the Jane Marilyn Haines Foster Scholarship at $8,000 a year; the Patricia Sue Pope Scholarship, two at $2,000 a year; the Shirley Gibbs Just Imagine Scholarship, two at $2,000 a year; the Kathleen Dowling Legacy Scholarship, one at $1,000 a year; the Jeff Harris Barber and Beauty School Scholarship, one at $1,000 a year; and the Lovell Family Scholarship, one at $2,500 a year.

“Joy”ful teachers conference returns to EHHS

CHARLOTTESVILLE – Joy Jam returns this summer to Eastern Hancock schools.

The educational conference will be July 15-16 at Eastern Hancock High School. The event is designed to bring joy to educators, not only with speakers, but also a candy room, coffee shop and a puppy room for participants to enjoy. Libertarian Party convention Feb. 4

GREENFIELD – The Hancock County Libertarian Party is hosting its annual convention at 2 p.m. Feb. 4 at the Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield.

Anyone is welcome to attend the event, which will include an election of a new board and voting on candidates to run for office.

Small Farm Conference coming up

DANVILLE – Registration is open for the 2024 Indiana Small Farm Conference, scheduled for Feb. 29 through March 1 at the Hendricks County Fairgrounds in Danville.

The event is hosted by Purdue University and includes sessions on urban agriculture, vegetable production, business, livestock, resilient agriculture, niche opportunities, equity and food security, flowers and more. The keynote speaker is Michael Kilpatrick, founder of Growing Farmers and host of the “Thriving Farmer Podcast” on how to network and learn about thriving in challenging times.
