VTPL offers winter reading program

FORTVILLE – The Vernon Township Public Library is offering a winter reading program now through Feb. 29 for teens and adults.

Readers will complete and log reading challenges on a Bingo card on the Beanstack app. Each challenge and Bingo card earns a digital raffle ticket for local gift cards.

The library continues to offer its Tuesday Morning Club for seniors to enjoy a social hour with activities. There are several adult book clubs available. For teens, a middle grades book club is coming up Jan. 22 and a Teen Winter Battle Royale is scheduled for Jan. 23 at Mt. Vernon Middle School. A winter reading program for the libraries in Greenfield and New Palestine will kick off Feb. 1.

Women in ag event next month

FORT WAYNE – The 2024 Ag Women Engage Conference is set for Feb. 22 in Fort Wayne.

The event allows women in agriculture to connect with each other. The Purdue Women Agriculture Team offers the annual event, designed to educate and uplift women involved in any aspect of the industry, through workshops, a keynote speaker, breakout presentations and more. The keynote presentation will be by Amanda Radke, a fifth-generation rancher and author, on “Plant & Prune the Family Ag Business to Reap a Bountiful Harvest.”

Conference fee is $100. Registration is at purdue.link/AWE2024. Deadline to register is Feb. 13.

KidsPlay auditions coming up

GREENFIELD – KidsPlay Inc. children’s theater will have auditions for the spring production of “The Doctor Is In.”

Auditions are for children in third through eighth grade for the two comedic acts about doctors. Auditions for returning KidsPlay participants will be 6-8:30 p.m. Jan. 16; new auditioners can try out 6-8:30 p.m. Jan. 18. Auditions are at the Memorial Building, 98 E. North St., Greenfield.

Parts are available for up to 39 speaking roles with doubling possible and eight to 12 dancers. New auditioners should come prepared with an audition monologue of one minute or less. Rehearsals are from 6-8:30 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. Performance dates are April 19, 20 and 21. For more, email [email protected].
