MORRISTOWN, IN

Helen Opal (Geiger) Duncan, 92, of Morristown, IN, took her last breath in this world and moved to the Heavens to be with her Lord and Savior and her family gone before her on Monday, December 4, 2023. She was born on January 28, 1931, in Indianapolis, to Edna (Svendson) and August Geiger, the youngest of 5 children.

She married the love of her life, Fred C. Duncan, on June 6, 1953, whom she lost in October 2012, just shy of 60 years of marriage and together for 6 years before that. She attended George Washington High School in Indianapolis and received her GED from Greenfield High School with her long time friend, Barbara Carroll.

As a teen, she worked for Bowers Envelope Company and was a book keeper for Indiana Bell. She was also a book keeper and tax consultant for Eva Elsey. She also worked alongside her sister Jewel at hillside gift shop at The Indianapolis Motor Speedway, as her husband, father, and brother-in-law drove tour buses around the track.

The most important things in life to her were her family. She loved camping, spending weekends down at the Ohio River with her family and friends. She loved to play outdoor yard games, cards, and just going out for drives with her husband.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory: son, Fred D. Duncan of Fountaintown, daughter, Tammy (Wayde) Veach of Morristown; grandchildren: Jeff (Mandy) Cook of Shirley, Becky (Kris) Ward of Arlington, Tiffany (Ryan) Veach Beard of Fairland, and Victoria Veach of Indianapolis; great-grandchildren: Gracie and Wyatt Cook, Sammi and DJ Barnes, and Annabelle and Jimmie Beard; and one due in May; lots of nieces and nephews; and many dear friends that will miss her dearly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, August and Edna Geiger; sisters: Georgia (Dick) Perry, Jewel (Earl) Freeland, and Katherine (Bill) Hopson; brother, Walter (Syble) Geiger; nephew, Mike Hopson; and niece, Linda Kinser.

A special thank you to the following for the wonderful care given to Helen and family: Karen Ethridge, Seniors Helping Seniors, and St. Vincent Hospital, 86th Street.
