GREENFIELD – Christmas at the Riley Home Open House is coming up from 5-7 p.m. Dec. 10.

Food distribution program at MVHS

FORTVILLE – The Gleaners/Mt. Vernon food bank is available at Mt. Vernon High School.

The drive-through food pantry distributes dry, non-perishable food, meat and more to districts in the Mt. Vernon district twice a month. Cars should line up at Door 20 of the school, 8112 N. 200W., Fortville.

Robotics open house coming to New Pal

NEW PALESTINE – New Palestine High School will have a community open house to showcase its robotics program.

The event is 3:30-5:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11 at the high school; enter on the south side of the Fieldhouse, 4485 S. Victory Drive, New Palestine.

More students are participating this season in robotics than ever before, and the school is currently ranked fourth in the state, and the highest ranked public school in the state. Participants can meet the teams, see robots up close, watch teams scrimmage and enjoy snacks.

Used Macbooks available to community

GREENFIELD – The community can purchase used MacBook devices through a sale with Greenfield-Central schools and Secured Tech Solutions.

The school has partnered with the company to sell devices while supplies last. Purchasers have the option of new chargers and headphones at checkout. Day of Love and Caring Dec. 24

GREENFIELD – The annual Day of Love and Caring is coming to the Hancock County Fairgrounds from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Christmas Eve, Dec. 24.

Parents, grandparents and guardians can select Christmas gifts for children and clothes. Hot meals will be on site and children can visit with Santa and Mrs. Claus. Organizers suggest bringing two adults: one to monitor children while the other secretly “shops” at the event.

The program is sponsored through God’s Open Arms Ministry, in addition to Hancock County Agricultural Association, Journey Bags of Hancock County, Changing Footprints and the Lisa Muegge Feast of Plenty. Father-daughter dance fundraiser coming up

FORTVILLE – Mt. Vernon High School will host a father/daughter dance for the entire community from 1-3 p.m. Dec. 10. The event, a fundraiser for the MV band program, is open to anyone regardless of age or school. Tickets are $30 per pair and include a snack, drink and a photo. Extra tickets are $10. Socks 4 Troops collection at local store

GREENFIELD – Shoe Sensation in Greenfield is collecting items for Socks 4 Troops and Veterans.

Socks can be dropped off at the store, 2237 Barrett Drive, Greenfield now through Dec. 31. The store will work with bikersinc.org, a nonprofit organization that supports veterans.
