Shirley seeks help with light display

SHIRLEY – Shirley Visionaries are asking the community to help fill Shirley Park with holiday lights and decorations. Ideal items are LED lights, blown mold lights, inflatable decorations and metal decorations.

Set-up is at 1 p.m. Nov. 25; the lights will be on display Dec. 2 to Jan. 1.

Decorations must be family-friendly for all ages; Shirley Visionaries have the right to remove displays not deemed appropriate. Shirley Visionaries are not responsible for broken or damaged items throughout the display time.

Cumberland holiday festival announced

CUMBERLAND – The town of Cumberland has announced plans for its 12th annual Weihnachtsmarkt, the German word for Winter Market.

The festival, scheduled for noon to 7 p.m. Dec. 2, pays homage to the town’s early German settlers. The free family-friendly event includes artisan vendors, traditional food and beer, live entertainment, kids activities, carriage rides from 1-5 p.m., visits from Santa from 12-5 p.m. and a tree lighting at 6 p.m. the entertainment lineup includes Oompapa’s Tuba Quartet, Fort Wayne Tanzer, Heidi and The Melchior Marionettes, Indiana Ballet Conservatory, Indianapolis Liederkranz and Hancock County Children’s Choir. The tree lighting will include fireworks and festival musical performance by Sadie Johnson.

The event will be in historic Cumberland on East Washington Street, from Muessing Street to Starter Street. Visit town.cumbreland.in.us for more.

“Trees on Main” to decorate Fortville alley

FORTVILLE – Tree sponsorships are available for decorating The Alley in downtown Fortville.

Fortville Action Inc. is hosting a Landmark Park fundraiser called Trees on Main, and creating a “picturesque holiday destination for everyone to enjoy.” Trees are being sponsored and decorated between Nov. 25 and Dec. 1. Trees will remain up through the end of the year.
