Mattress fundraiser coming up at GCHS

GREENFIELD – Greenfield-Central High School’s band and guard program will host its eighth annual mattress fundraiser this Sunday, Aug. 27.

The event, through Custom Fundraising Solutions, will be from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the school’s band room. There will be 30 mattress styles on display; name-brand mattresses are available for up to 50% retail value with proceeds benefiting the music program. Mattresses are available two to three weeks after the fundraiser and delivery is available.

The high school is located at 810 N. Broadway St., Greenfield; follow signs for the mattress sale.

Food drive for local pantries coming up

GREENFIELD – The annual “Fill a Truck, Fill a Pantry” event is coming up in September.

The event, hosted by Rotary Club of Greenfield, will include a large truck in the northside parking lot of Walmart, 1965 N. State St., Greenfield from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sept. 9.

The community is asked to donate non-perishable food items. Every donation will be given to a local food pantry to help people in Hancock County.

Sorority hosts mum fundraiser

GREENFIELD – The Upsilon chapter of Psi Iota Xi is selling mums from Sunnyside Greenhouses. The flowers sell for $10.50 each and come in red, orange, yellow, purple and white. The mums are in a 9-inch pot, and they are about 18 inches across and 14 to 18 inches tall. To order, contact Katie Ottinger by Sept. 1 at 317-318-8313 (call or text).

EH family to benefit from silent auction, car event

GREENFIELD – A benefit event is coming up to help an Eastern Hancock family fight cancer.

Evan Roberts and his family of five will benefit from proceeds of a silent auction and truck/car meet at 5 p.m. Sept. 16.

The event will be at the Harper Truck/Car Meet and drag racing in a field at 168 N. 400W., Greenfield. Cost is $10 per person to watch the drag racing, which begins at 8 p.m. The silent auction begins at 5 p.m.

Evan Roberts, an Eastern Hancock alumni, is facing an aggressive form of cancer. All proceeds will support the Roberts family, including cash donations, checks made out to Evan Roberts, or cash app under Evan Roberts Foundation. Donations to the silent auction are still being accepted by calling Shantell Tharpe, 317-225-7200.
