New Palestine defeated Noblesville 192-194 Thursday in a girls golf match played in Noblesville. It was the team’s second win in a dual meet this season.

Lauren Appleby and Lauren Deering were the low Dragon golfers. Both shot nine-hole rounds of 47.

Lily Kirchner followed with a 48. Kate Stanfield and Matti Tiede-White both carded 50s.

Katie Kelley followed with a 51. Hanna Beller and Janie Hamilton each had 52s.

The Dragons will play today in the Lapel Invitational at The Edge Golf Course in Anderson.

Cougars drop two matches

Greenfield-Central’s girls golf team lost Thursday 237-249 to Connersville at Willowbrook Golf Course.

The Cougars, on Monday in Rushville, lost 214-247 to the Lions. Ella Neill was low golfer for G-C with a nine-hole round of 55.

Greenfield-Central plays in the Lapel Invitational today at The Edge Golf Course in Anderson.

Royals improve score, MV JV win

Against host North Decatur and Union (Modoc) on Tuesday, Eastern Hancock’s girls golf team had a 13-stroke improvement from the first match of the season.

North Decatur won with a 228. Union followed with a 233 and Eastern Hancock finished with a 253, after shooting a 266 in the season opener on Thursday, Aug. 3.

On Thursday, at Royal Hylands against Mt. Vernon, the Marauders junior varsity scored 213 and the Royals did not have enough players (4 needed) to field a team score. Marauder sophomore Zoey Gaw had the low nine-hole round with a 50.

Next up for the Royals is a home match Tuesday at Royal Hylands against Union County.
