Book donations accepted at HCPL

GREENFIELD – Clean out your shelves and help bring programming to the Hancock County Public Library with a book donation coming up.

The Friends of the Library, the non-profit charitable group of volunteers who raise money through the sale of donated items, will collect books from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 12 at the main branch of the HCPL, 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield. Gently used books, DVDs, CDs and video games will be accepted at the side delivery entrance (northeast corner); a volunteer will assist when someone rings the bell. A tax receipt may be requested.

The Friends group hosts regular book sales to raise money for concerts, children’s performers and special projects. For more information, call hcplibrary.org or call 317-462-5141.

Pennsy Trails to host dining fundraiser

GREENFIELD – Pennsy Trails of Hancock County will have a dine to donate event this month.

Dairy Queen Fud Night is from 4-10 p.m. at the restaurant, 801 W. Main St., Greenfield. A portion of proceeds from sales will benefit Pennsy Trails.

Path to Fitness 5K Aug. 19

McCordsville – The ninth annual McCordsville Path to Fitness 5K and one-mile fun run is set for 8 a.m. Aug. 19 at Hancock Wellness Center, 8505 N. Clearview Drive, McCordsville. Proceeds from the 5K go toward the Building a Brighter McCordsville fund through the Community Foundation of Hancock County. The fund provides grants to make park improvements and upgrades.
