Community baby shower coming up

FORTVILLE – A Fortville Community Baby Shower is planned for this month.

The free event for new or expectant mothers and families will be 5-7 p.m. Aug. 29 at Fortville Nazarene Church, 701 S. Maple St., door 3, Fortville. The event will include informational tables with resources, refreshments and a free raffle. At 6 p.m. is the ABCs of Safe Sleep Class, where the first 30 registrants will receive free items. Register at 765-643-8022. The event is sponsored by Hancock 4 Kids, Community Foundation of Hancock County and Firefly Children and Family Alliance.

Gun locks available at GPD

GREENFIELD – The Greenfield Police Department has free gun locks available.

The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs has provided a limited stock but more are expected soon. Pick up a gun lock at the department at 116 S. State St., Greenfield; call 317-477-4410 for questions.

Hops 4 Hope set for Aug. 12

GREENFIELD – A craft beer tasting event benefiting the Hope House homeless shelter is coming up.

The 10th annual Hops 4 Hope is 2:30-7 p.m. Aug. 12 at the Hancock County 4-H Fairgrounds, 620 N. Apple St., Greenfield. The event will feature live music from Stella Luna and the Satellites.

VIP admission opens at 2:30 p.m. while general admission opens at 4 p.m. Tickets range from $25 to $85; participants must be at least 21 years old to attend. Visit hops4hope.com for tickets.

Library starting new crafting club

GREENFIELD – A new crafting club for adults is launching this month.

Crafternoon Club is 1-3 p.m. Aug. 15 in the Grace Rea Study Room 3 of the Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield.

Bring your own crafting project to work on and join for conversation and camaraderie. All skill levels are welcome. Adult coloring pages and colored pencils will also be available for those who don’t have a project to bring. Register at hcplibrary.org or call 317-462-5141.
