The Landing Place to host luau fundraiser

GREENFIELD – Lt. Gov. Suzanne Crouch will be the keynote speaker at an event this month benefiting The Landing Place.

The luau-themed event will be at Adaggios Banquet Hall, 5999 W. Memory Lane. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. Aug. 10 with dinner beginning at 6:30 p.m. Dinner tickets are $40 with additional sponsorship levels available. Registration is at thelandingplacehc.com.

The Landing Place, located in downtown Greenfield at 18 W. South St., is a faith-based non-profit organization that gives youth ages 13 to 19 real-life strategies and principles to break the cycles of dysfunction and destructive behavior, while also learning healthy patterns of living. Author with local ties to speak at event

GREENFIELD – A young adult author with Greenfield roots will return to the community for an event about writing and publishing books Aug. 9.

Kyle Willis, author of “Jason Phoenix and the Demon Lamp” will speak on the process of writing, editing, publishing and marketing a book at the event at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 9 at the main branch of the Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield. The event is for teens and adults; registration for the free event is at hcplibrary.org.

Willis is a Greenfield-Central High School and Hanover College graduate who currently lives in Columbus, Ind.

DR seeks state fair photos

GREENFIELD – The Daily Reporter is accepting photographs of prizes at the Indiana State Fair.

Email photos of 4-H students with ribbons from the state fair to [email protected]. Include the name of the student in the photo and animal or project name, if applicable. Also include the hometown of the student and what prize was earned.
