GREENFIELD – Local teachers are taking advantage of a Marion County organization to stock up on free school supplies for the upcoming academic year.

Teachers’ Treasurers, a “free store for teachers,” was once for Marion County teachers only but opened up its organization and annual Donut Dash event to any school district in the state.

Greenfield Central School Foundation invests the $35 participation fee for teachers to participate in the Donut Dash; participation means free school supplies in the summer at the store. The result is free supplies for Greenfield classrooms, said Ginny Brown, director of the foundation.

Last year, for example, GCSF invested $1,645 and teachers got roughly $23,000 in free supplies. She expects the return on investment to be even greater this year.
