McCordsville teen charged with murder in May shooting

LAWRENCE – One of two 16-year-old teenagers charged with murder in connection to a deadly shooting back in May is from McCordsville.

Prosecutors in Marion County have formally charged Derek Reasor, 16, McCordsville, and Quayvon George, 16, Indianapolis, with murder, robbery resulting in serious bodily injury, robbery resulting in bodily injury and armed robbery. Reasor is facing additional charges (seven in all) including another count of murder, as well as attempted murder and dangerous possession of a firearm according to Marion County Court documents.

According to a probable cause affidavit, officials with the Lawrence Police Department were dispatched to a report of a person shot at
8046 Louisville Drive in The Reserve at Franklin Glenn Apartments May 26. Upon arrival officers located a male slumped over the steering wheel of a light blue Ford Focus. The victim was identified as Bryce Brown, 18, Indianapolis. Officials said he had been shot in the head.

Shortly after, officials were called to the the Marathon gas station at 8005 East 42nd Street where a second male had been shot in the stomach. A source told officials the suspects who did the shooting were inside the Sinclair gas station on the northeast corner of 42nd and Franklin Road just prior to the incident.

An investigation led officials to the two 16 year-old teenagers who will be charged as adults. Officials believe the shooting happened as part of a drug deal gone wrong. The defendants were taken into custody late last week and made appearances this week in Marion Superior Court 30.
