“Disasterville” event coming up

GREENFIELD – Disasterville, a table-top game-like activity, will be available to learn from at an event this week.

The Hancock County COAD and Emergency Management Agency is hosting an event at 7 p.m. Thursday, June 1 for volunteers and the general public to try Disasterville, an interactive hands-on activity that supports preparedness program recruitment and a greater understanding of how to be prepared in emergencies. The toolkit has markers to set up a disaster scene, such as infrastructure damages, structure damages and victim conditions. The event will be at the Hancock County Emergency Operations Center, 640 S. Franklin St., Greenfield. For more, call 317-372-2304.

Parks, theater to show free movies this summer

GREENFIELD – Free movies are available this summer.

Greenfield Parks and Recreation has its 2023 Summer Movies Series, with movies at various dates at local parks throughout the summer. For dates and movie titles, visit facebook.com/greenfieldparks.

VIP Cinemas will also show free movies at 10 a.m. every Wednesday and Thursday throughout the summer. Called Summer Family Flicks, the series is on a first-come, first serve basis June 7-Aug. 10; no large parties and no reservations are available. Visit vipcinemas.com for details.

Art fair scheduled for July 29

GREENFIELD – The annual Pennsy Trail Art Fair and Music Festival is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. July 29 in downtown Greenfield.

The event, a fundraiser for Mental Health Partners of Hancock County, takes place in on the courthouse plaza and American Legion Place, Live entertainment includes Highway 234, Redux Band, Occasional Blues Band and Cavalear Band. Fortville parade set for June 3

FORTVILLE – The Fortville Ball Day Parade presented by the Mt. Vernon Optimist Club will be at 9 a.m. Saturday, June 3, with road closures beginning at 8 a.m.

The parade route will begin at Landmark Park, travel south on Leland, west on Staat, southwest on Noel, east on Mill, south on Ash, west on Pearl, north on Main Street to Church, then west to Memorial Park for the parade’s conclusion.
