GREENFIELD – Several Memorial Day events are coming up this weekend and beyond in Hancock County.

The 66th annual Memorial Day Ceremony to remember fallen heroes will be May 29. The American Legion Dale E. Kuhn Post 119 hosts the annual ceremony at Park Cemetery, located on Ind. 9 about six blocks south of downtown Greenfield.

The ceremony begins at 10 a.m. and lasts about an hour, with Commander Jennifer Manning as presiding officer and Mayor Chuck Fewell as speaker. The Hancock County Honor Guard will fire rifles and honor the nation’s colors, and the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 119 will present wreaths honoring conflicts. The ceremony is open to the public and parking begins at 9 a.m.; the cemetery entrance will be closed at about 9:45 a.m. and reopen after noon.

In the afternoon, Run for the Wall will take place. The second annual Sandbox Motorcycle Ride for a wreath-laying ceremony with local veterans and city leaders will begin at about 3:25 p.m. at the Hancock County Veterans Park, located at South Street and Ind. 9.
