Community awards to be given at upcoming event

GREENFIELD – Award nominations for local employees and volunteers are open now for the upcoming Greenfield Area Chamber of Commerce Community Walk of Fame.

The annual event is set for 6 p.m. June 15 at 519 Jefferson Blvd., Greenfield. The event will include an awards celebration recognizing exemplary individuals in the community, such as businessman of the year, businesswoman of the year, community hero award, non-profit community service of the year and more.

“Disasterville” event coming up

GREENFIELD – Disasterville, a table-top, game-like activity, will be available to learn from at an event next week.

The Hancock County COAD and Emergency Management Agency is hosting an event at 7 p.m. June 1 for volunteers and the general public to try Disasterville, an interactive hands-on activity that supports preparedness program recruitment and a greater understanding of how to be prepared in emergencies. The toolkit has markers to set up a disaster scene, such as infrastructure damages, structure damages and victim conditions. The event will be at the Hancock County Emergency Operations Center, 640 S. Franklin St., Greenfield. For more, call 317-372-2304.

McCordsville to launch new event

MCCORDSVILLE – Vendors and sponsors are wanted for McCordsville’s summer community event, Party in the Park.

The event will be Aug. 19 in Town Hall Park. Applications are available to all businesses, arts and crafts, farmers and organizations and are $40 to reserve vendor space. Sponsorships start at $150. This will be the first year for the event, which will include free activities like balloon twisting, face painting, music, an inflatable obstacle course, ax throwing, food vendors and more.
