Libertarian party to host event

GREENFIELD – The Hancock County Libertarian Party is hosting a candidate call-out and meet-and-greet with mayoral candidate Larry Silver.

The event will be from 2-3:30 p.m. June 4 in the community room of the Hancock County Public Library, 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield. All are welcome and light refreshments will be available. The event is also designed to get candidates on the ballot prior to the July 3 deadline for the fall general election.

Dining fundraiser today for farm animal sanctuary

GREENFIELD – Mozzi’s Pizza will host a dine to donate event for Almost Heaven Farm Animal Sanctuary at all five restaurant locations from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. today, May 24.

Donations will be given on dine-in, pick up or delivery items; a flier must be shown. A flier can be found at betterflye.me/mozzis-pizza-dine-to-donate.

School supply drive underway

MCCORDSVILLE – A school supply drive for next school year is already starting up. Blue Angel Connect is collecting school supplies for a backpack giveaway for the 2023-24 school year. The backpacks and supplies will be given to Hancock County elementary school students who would otherwise struggle to purchase them. Visit blueangelconnect.org for a link to the wish list to purchase items online; the items will be sent directly to Blue Angel Connect to be organized and distributed. The drive will continue through July 7.

Changing Footprints announces summer hours

GREENFIELD – Changing Footprints recently announced new summer hours.

Starting June 1, the organization that gives away shoes for free will be open 2-6 p.m. every Tuesday and Thursday. Saturday hours will be available for special circumstances. Strawberry Festival to help several local groups

GREENFIELD – The 39th annual Greenfield Strawberry Festival presented by Bradley United Methodist Church will be June 16.

The event, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the southwest corner of Pennsylvania and Main streets, is a fundraiser for several local organizations, including Hancock County Food Pantry, Kenneth Butler Memorial Soup Kitchen, Hope House, Love INC, The Landing Place, Talitha Koum Women’s Recovery House, Friends of Hancock County CASA and Bradley Preschool. Cost is $8 for strawberries, ice cream and homemade shortcake.
