Parks department accepting artwork

GREENFIELD – Greenfield Parks and Recreation is accepting pieces of art to be featured in Depot Street Park all year.

The 2023 Spring Art Callout is open through May 12. The theme is “All Things Nature.” Three submissions may be accepted per person; artwork must be original and artists must live in Hancock County. Art will be divided among children grades k-1; children grades 4-6; grades 7-8; 9-12; and adult. Submit artwork to 280 Apple St., Greenfield; call 317-325-1465 with questions.

Purse bingo fundraiser tickets available

GREENFIELD – A designer purse fundraiser benefiting Meals on Wheels of Hancock County is coming up June 1.

Summer of Love Designer Purse Bingo will be at St. Michael’s Church and School, 519 Jefferson Blvd., Greenfield. Tickets are at mealsonwheelsonline.org/designer-purse-bingo. The $40 ticket includes 15 bingo rounds, dinner and raffle. Event features a purse pull, pull tabs, 50/50, raffles and more. Shirley Strawberry Festival May 20

SHIRLEY – Members of the Shirley community are planning its annual Shirley Strawberry Festival.

The event, which will feature vendors and entertainment, will be 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. May 20 at the Octagon House, 400 S. Railroad St., Shirley. Vendors, volunteers and sponsors are still welcome; for more information, visit Townofshirley.com.

Mobile blood drives scheduled at local sites

GREENFIELD – Several community blood drives are happening over the next two weeks in Hancock County.

Mobile blood drives through Versiti Blood Center of Indiana are scheduled for 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. May 6 at Vernon Township Fire Department; 9 a.m. to 12:25 p.m. May 7 at St. Michaels Catholic Church; 1:35-6 p.m. May 10 at Fortville Christian Church; 2:15-5 p.m. May 10 at New Palestine High School; and 1:30-6 p.m. May 11 at Daniel’s Vineyard near McCordsville.
