Early voting this month

HANCOCK COUNTY – Early voting continues this month.

Registered voters can head to the magistrate’s court at the north entrance of the Hancock County Courthouse, 9 E. Main St., Greenfield. That location is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays through April 28.

The Hancock County Public Library’s main branch will also host early voting. Hours are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays through Apri 28; and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 29. The library is located at 900 W. McKenzie Road, Greenfield.

In Fortville, early voting takes place at the Mt. Vernon Community School Corporation Administration Building, 1806 W. Ind. 234, Fortville. The site is open for voting 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays through April 28; and 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 29. The building is not an Election Day vote center.

Voters could also head to Buck Creek Township Fire Department to vote early. The department, 5809 W. Airport Blvd., Greenfield, is open 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. weekdays through April 28.

Election Day is 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 2. There are several vote centers located throughout the county; a voter can head to any site regardless of their address. In addition to the Buck Creek Township Fire Department and HCPL, vote centers are at the Hancock County Courthouse Annex, 111 American Legion Place, Greenfield; Cumberland Town Hall, 11501 E. Washington St., Cumberland; Fortville Community Center, 400 W. Church St., Fortville; and McCordsville Town Hall, 6280 W. 800 N., McCordsville.

Weed wrangle, nature walk scheduled

GREENFIELD – Learn about wildflowers and help a local park eliminate an invasive species at an upcoming event.

An Ephemeral Walk and Weed Wrangle is scheduled for 1-2:30 p.m. April 29 at Thornwood Nature Preserve, 1597 S. Morristown Pike, Greenfield. The event, hosted by the local chapter of Weed Wrangle Indiana, will include a wildflower identification walk and eliminating the invasive garlic mustard. Bring gloves and dress for the weather.
