Spring recycling event coming up

GREENFIELD – Recycle Hancock County will host its spring collection event from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 29 at Elanco, 2500 Innovation Way, Greenfield.

The event, for Hancock County residents only, allows people to recycle items for fees: hazardous waste is $5 per carload; electronics is $5 per carload not including TVs; TVs are $5 to $20 based on size and type; document shredding is $3 per box; tires are $4.50 off the rim or $5 on; latex paint is $1 per quart, $2 per gallon and $5 per five-gallon.

Weed wrangle, nature walk scheduled

GREENFIELD – Learn about wildflowers and help a local park eliminate an invasive species at an upcoming event.

An Ephemeral Walk and Weed Wrangle is scheduled for 1-2:30 p.m. April 29 at Thornwood Nature Preserve, 1597 S. Morristown Pike, Greenfield. The event, hosted by the local chapter of Weed Wrangle Indiana, will include a wildflower identification walk and eliminating the invasive garlic mustard. Bring gloves and dress for the weather. School supply drive underway

MCCORDSVILLE – A school supply drive for next school year is already starting up. Blue Angel Connect is collecting school supplies for a backpack giveaway for the 2023-24 school year. The backpacks and supplies wll be given to Hancock County elementary school students who would otherwise struggle to purchase them. Visit blueangelconnect.org for a link to the wish list to purchase items online; the items will be sent directly to Blue Angel Connect to be organized and distributed. The drive will continue through July 7.
