Nonprofit workshop coming up

SHELBYVILLE – Shelby and Hancock County residents can attend a free workshop May 2 on starting and organizing nonprofits.

The event, called Nonprofit Formation (& Upkeep) Workshop, will be 10 a.m. to noon at ECHO Effect Arts Campus, 102 E. Washington St., Shelbyville. The workshop is hosted by the Blue River Community Foundation and Shelby County Chamber of Commerce. The interactive session will focus on how to successfully launch a nonprofit; the benefits of having a nonprofit and pitfalls to avoid; navigating best practices and more. If someone has already started a nonprofit, they are still encouraged to come and learn more. A question-and-answer session will be included.

Several mobile blood drives coming up

HANCOCK COUNTY – Several mobile blood drives are coming up in Hancock County over the next two weeks.

Mt. Vernon High School will host a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 20 at 8122 N. 200 W., Fortville.

Hancock Regional Hospital’s blood drive is 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. April 21 at 801 N. State St., Greenfield.

Cavalry Baptist Church and Noah’s Ark Daycare will host a drive from 3:35-7 p.m. April 25 at 1450 W. Main St., Greenfield.

Trax BBQ will host a drive from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. April 29 at 7724 Depot St., McCordsville.

The mobile blood drives through Versiti Blood Center of Indiana accept appointments through donate.indiana.versiti.org.

Dining events to benefit local animal shelter

GREENFIELD – The Hancock County Humane Society will benefit from two upcoming donation events at restaurants.

A portion of sales at Qdoba from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, April 20 goes to the society’s shelter. The QR code at facebook.com/hancockhumane is required. Qdoba is located at 2037 N. State St., Greenfield.

A donation event will also be at Culver’s in Greenfield from 5-8 p.m. May 22. No flier is required; a portion of dine-in, drive through or carry out proceeds benefit the shelter. Culver’s is located at 1846 N. State St., Greenfield.
