Youth council applications for D.C. trip accepted

GREENFIELD – Indiana’s electric cooperatives, including NineStar Connect, are accepting applications from high school juniors for the 2023 Indiana Electric Cooperative Youth Tour to Washington D.C.

The trip is planned for June 11-18. Students will be selected for a Youth Leadership Council based on applications. For more information, email [email protected] or apply at indianayouthtour.org.

Etheredge named to dean’s list

MCCORDSVILLE – Caron Etheredge of McCordsville was recently named to the dean’s list for University of Mississippi for the Fall 2022 semester.

The list is reserved for students who earn a grade point average of 3.5 to 3.74 with at least 2 credit hours of courses. The University of Mississippi is the state’s flagship university and includes 16 academic divisions, such as a medical school and schools of accountancy, law and pharmacy.

Career center to offer CDL program

NEW CASTLE – The New Castle Career Center has partnered with Ivy Tech to introduce a new Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) program for the 2023-24 school year. Juniors and seniors will have the opportunity to participate in a supply chain pathway or a transportation pathway.

Students choosing the supply chain pathway will be able to earn six credit hours and may participate in the program for one or two years. Students will gain knowledge in logistic management, supply chain strategy, planning and design, customer service, purchasing, forecasting, warehouse management and more.

The transportation pathway is for students in their senior year. They can earn six credit hours while they learn safety and prepare to take the CDL certification test. Much of this coursework will be hands-on learning. Only six students will be accepted into the transportation pathway program.

Family skate night planned for EH

CHARLOTTESVILLE – Eastern Hancock’s Parent Teacher Organization will host a Skate Night from 6-8 p.m. today, March 14.

EHHS to host blood drive Wednesday

CHARLOTTESVILLE – Eastern Hancock High School is sponsoring a blood drive from 1:30-6 p.m. Wednesday, March 15.
