GREENFIELD – Officials with the Hancock County Sheriff’s Department and Greenfield Police Department say they’ve arrested Daniel James Smith, 39, Greenfield, on a charge of murder following a distrubance at a county home.
Officials were called to the 5600 block of E. U.S. 40, Greenfield at 10:19 p.m. Thursday night with a report someone was dead at the residence. Upon arrival to the address, officers located a deceased male who has been identified as Freddie E Patterson, 69, Greenfield.
Maj. Robert Campbell of the HCSD noted the public is not in any danger and this was an isolated incident. Smith is currenty an inmate in the Hancock County Jail awaiting his iniital appearance.
