Community health classes offered through Healthy 365

GREENFIELD – Healthy 365 has announced several community classes coming up.

QPR training and Mental Health First Aid training are offered. A 16-week course for people who love someone with addictions will start in the new year, as will Hancock Health’s Substance Use Treatment program called “RISE Recovery and Wellness.” A “Better Choices/Better Health” course for people with chronic disease is also coming up.

The agency launched a new website for support groups, community education and events called Hancock Wellbeing. For more, visit hancockwellbeing.org.

Community blood drive this Saturday

FORTVILLE – Vernon Township Fire Department will host a community blood drive 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 4.

The drive comes at a time when Versiti Blood Center of Indiana has issued an emergency appeal for blood donations as communities throughout the state face a potential crisis. There was a significant decline in donations during the holiday season and the downward trend continues through the new year.

The blood drive will be hosted in a Bloodmobile at 600 Vitality Drive, Fortville. Sign up or find other local drives at donate.indiana.versiti.org.

HCPL offers programs in February

GREENFIELD – The Hancock County Public Library is offering several programs in February for all ages.

The Hedgehog Hannah family animal program will be at both the central branch and the Sugar Creek branch Feb. 4.

An adult Valentine paper quilling class will be at the Sugar Creek branch Feb. 7, while a beginner watercolor class will be at the main branch Feb. 23. Adults can also attend a book discussion Feb. 14 or a Writers Helping Writers session Feb. 16.

All ages can enjoy the Phelps Connection Jazz Concert Feb. 21 at the main branch.
