Marauders defeated at Mooresville

In a tight, low-scoring game at Mooresville, Mt. Vernon’s girls basketball team lost 39-38 to the Pioneers Tuesday.

Mooresville led by one, 17-16, at halftime. Mt. Vernon had a one-point advantage, 28-27, going into the final quarter.

The loss puts an end to a four-game winning streak. The Marauders are 9-4 overall. Mooresville improved to 10-4.

Mt. Vernon will play Crown Point 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 27, in the Twin Lakes Tournament.

Dragons lose to Bears

New Palestine’s girls basketball team lost 63-53 to visiting Lawrence Central Tuesday.

Isabella Gizzi led Dragon scorers with 26 points. Allie Blum added 14. Vivian Miller contributed six points and Sadey Hughbanks scored five. Kylie Beranek had two points.

The Dragons are 7-7 on the season and will host Southport Thursday.

Swimming

Royals split with Lapel, HC

Eastern Hancock’s swim teams split triangular meets at the EH pool Tuesday.

The Royals boys team defeated Lapel 67-19 and lost to Heritage Christian 75-58.

The Royals girls squad beat Lapel 87-50 and lost to Heritage Christian 87-62.

For the season, the EH boys are 2-12. The EH girls have a 7-8 record.
